What to expect from Eagle Spirit Karate
You will learn how to punch with power, kick accurately, apply chokes and joint locks, perform throws and sweeps, fall without hurting yourself, and spar without fear.
You will be taught how to defend yourself in numerous different situations, and how to recognize a potentially dangerous situation and avoid it.
You will also learn about karate's philosophy and how to apply it to your everyday life.
Children will learn discipline from a structured environment, attain self-esteem in moderation (we don't want an excess of self-esteem; that tends to lead to arrogance), sharpen their focus, and learn to respect others. They will also learn to keep their grades up, because a student with poor grades will not be promoted to the next belt level.
All this will be achieved by one thing, practice. If anybody asks you what the secret of karate is, tell them, it is practice. You will not learn these techniques overnight, and many of the movements might seem really foreign to you, but the more you practice, the better you will get.
